Oriental Pearl Tower & Shanghai History Museum

Landmark of Shanghai’s Nightview, Oriental Pearl Tower

This 468 meters (1,536 feet) high tower is the world’s sixth and China’s second tallest tower. This tower has a unique architectural design that makes Oriental Pearl Tower one of the most attractive places anywhere. There are three large spheres, including the top sphere, known as the space module. You can enjoy the night view of Shanghai. Also, there is the Shanghai History Museum in this tower.

Zhujiajiao is an ancient water town on the outskirts of Shanghai, and was established about 1,700 years ago. 36 stone bridges and numerous rivers line Zhujiajiao, and many ancient buildings still lined the riverbanks today.

Qing Dynasty Post Office

Explore the Qing dynasty postal service.

Founded during Qing Emperor Tongzhi’s reign(1903), it was one of the 13 major post offices in Shanghai: a private post office, a foreign post office, a telegraph office and a customs post office. It is now the only historic post office site in East China. This place is not a huge place, but it’s nice to walk through the old wooden building’s interior, with mildly interesting exhibits.

The Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai was a partially recognized Korean government in exile based in Shanghai, China during the Japanese colonial rule of Korea. After the surrender of Japan on August 15, 1945, figures such as Kim Gu returned. On August 15, 1948, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was dissolved.

※ August 15th is the National Liberation Day of South Korea.
