[Medium-term Economy] CKL “Cultivate content-specific accelerator”

The Korea Content Promotion Agency’s Content Korea Lab (hereinafter referred to as CKL), affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is an organization that fosters and supports companies in the field of culture and arts content. We support the company in accordance with the characteristics of each stage of growth such as creation, initial start-up, corporate growth and global advancement. Kim Sang-hyun, head of the CKL, met with mid-term economics, saying, “Even though we have ideas, it is not easy to connect to business.” The majority of the personnel trained at specialized universities and colleges are purely focused on their work. There is no place to teach without knowing. ” For example, it is difficult to make profit by content creation such as broadcasting, games, and comics. In the case of dramas with about 100 to 100 episodes per year, there is not much left to the makers except for some of the top movies, such as ‘The Sun’s Generation’ and ‘Goblin’. The same goes for games and manga. Kim said, “A company that distributes more than a creator makes a lot of profit. Because they can earn money only through distribution channels, they are attributed to big companies that have dominated them. It is hard to say uniformly, but in the case of the movie industry, the share of the theater, which is the distribution network, is 50%, and the other half is the structure that the producer and the distributor share. “CKL introduced the fusion of creative activities and distribution to foster new industries.

Develop customized travel products for the disabled

Kim pointed out that ‘Amus Travel’ is a case of CKL’s successful support, which provides specialized travel products for people with disabilities. For non-disabled people, for example, beautiful scenery can be meaningless for the visually impaired. What the visually impaired need is a travel product that can use hearing, tactile sense, and sense of smell. There is a place where you can hear the sound of the waterfall, touch the rocks nearby, and smell the flowers around you. People with disabilities who need a wheelchair should have travel facilities with mobility facilities, and a restaurant should have a larger space than a non-disabled person. Amusement Travel A has developed over 20 travel programs for people with disabilities, for about a year, searching for areas with good flavors or unique specialties. The problem was that I did not know how to commercialize a disabled travel program. Kim said, “The representative case of having difficulty in knowing the commercialization process despite the idea,” Kim said. “We supported the initial funding and helped the mentor, helping him to successfully start and grow successfully by eliminating the hurdles he felt during the start-up process.” Explained. In addition, ‘Open Gallery’ is a picture rental company that rents artworks from domestic artists and replaces them every three months. CKL has provided initial funding for publicity through its startup business, which is one of the support projects. The Open Gallery has created an online marketplace that can accommodate the works of many painters who have not earned a reputation. Kim said, “It will not be easy for artists and undergraduates, who have failed to win the prize, to distribute their works to the market while they are doing their works.” “Most painters can not make money with art works alone, but they have opened a new market by commercializing it,” he said. “It is the place that plays a role in fostering new industries through the fusion of creation and distribution.”

“We will support them in connection with accelerators around the world.”

CKL has a planning center in Daehangno, Seoul to support creation and start-up, and a corporate support center to support growth and global expansion in Gwanghwamun. In particular, the Enterprise Support Center provides free space for start-ups and venture companies, and currently 42 companies are in operation. In addition, we invite overseas participants and conduct marketing training. In particular, it is noteworthy that financial institutions, law, accounting, copyright, etc., which have difficulties in the early stage, are gathered in one place. Kim said, “The strengths of our center are that we have a more close support function that brings together the entrepreneurs who support corporate growth. We can utilize experts in each field through on-line or off-line, I support it. ” Kim is confident that if he goes abroad, he can overcome the limitations of the domestic market and open up new markets. For example, Inomad, one of the company’s resident companies, developed a 500-ml water bottle-sized portable power charger that turns propellers into flowing water, which is not recognized in the domestic market. In Korea, wherever you go camping, you can get electricity if you go only a few hundred meters. So Inomad focused on the US and Canadian markets. There is a place that can not go out for a few days once camping is deep, and there is no electricity of course, and it seems that portable charger of the United States and Canada is likely to become a hit product. Inomad, which entered the US through the support of CKL, also received crowdfunding and exported hundreds of millions of dollars. Kim said, “There are accelerators for each market in every part of the world market.” We plan to support start-ups that are selected as global companies to support them. ” There are many private companies that function as accelerators in Korea, but they mainly nurture technology-based companies such as IT and manufacturing. Since there are not many places to concentrate on contents and cultivate them, it is not sufficient to support a large number of CKL and a rapidly growing arts and culture contents companies. CKL has set its goal of fostering a private company that specializes in content acclerating this year. Through this, we plan to nurture more cultural and artistic content companies and create a private-led ecosystem. Kim said, “Some venture capital firms have a mindset to nurture corporations, but most of them have a tendency to invest in companies that have already grown and are recovering their investment,” said Kim. “By supporting companies that have strengths in content, Based content industry ecosystem. ”
